Obituary for Gordon Fenton Tanner

Gordon  Fenton   Tanner
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Gordon Fenton Tanner, 82, of Fauxburg and formerly of Bayport announces his peaceful passing on Monday, June 17, 2013 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Blue Rocks, Gordon was a son of the late William Fenton and Ellen Louise (Knickle) Tanner.

Gordon started his working career at National Sea. He worked for Avero Air on the famous Arrow Airplane. Gordon went on to design fish plant equipment for Atlantic Bridge, Island Metal Fabricators and Charlottetown Metal Products.

Gordon loved being in the outdoors and could often be found fishing and hunting. He also spent much time on the Lunenburg Golf Course or curling in the arena. Gordon was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23, Lunenburg

He is survived by : Daughter, Sharon (Derrick) Sarty, Bayport; sons, Andrew (Gina), Fauxburg; Paul (Tracey), Upper LaHave; grandchildren, Samantha, Steven, Kayleigh, Caleb, Nicholas, Noah, Jacob, Allie, Codey, Logan; great-grandchildren, Cael and Jude; sisters, Arlean Silver, Bridgewater; Stacia "Pat" MacDonald, Toronto; brother, Alfred Tanner, Martin's River, and several niece and nephews.

Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his wife, the former Beatrice (Corkum).

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Gordon at a gathering to be held at the Lunenburg Fire Department on Thursday, June 27 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23, Lunenburg, Poppy Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
