Reginald Weldon Oxner
Reginald Weldon Oxner, 82 of Riverport, passed away, Tuesday, December 19,2006 at home.
Born in Lower LaHave, he was the son of the late William and Emily (Tremills)Oxner.
Reg served in World War II with the Merchant Marines and after the war he worked in Halifax with Western Union on the cable ship the Cyrus Field and later with Riverport Seafoods. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24, Bridgewater, the Canadian Merchant Navy Association and a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Rose Bay.
He is survived by his sons, Weldon (Karel) Oxner of Dartmouth, Dwayne(Audrey) Oxner of Smith Fall's, Ontario, daughter Iris Oxner of Clayton Park, brother Raymond (Marjorie) Oxner of Lower LaHave, sisters, Evelyn Madden (Otis Mosher) of Dayspring and Ethel Brunelle of Halifax,grandchildren, Kari (Adam), Robin, David, Gillian and Genevive and great grand-daughter Adrienne.
He was predeceased by his brother Harvard.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, where a service celebrating his life will be held, Saturday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Kenneth Wild, officiating. Interment will be in the Lower LaHave Cemetery.
Flowers from the immediate family only, memorial donations may be made to the Lower LaHave Cemetery or to any other charity.
