It is with great sadness that the family of Dorne Owen Oxner, 94, of Lunenburg, announces his passing on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of the late Owen and Maisie (Knock) Oxner.

Dorne worked for most of his working life with National Sea Products, Lunenburg, (High Liner Foods) retiring in 1980 and during that time was the first Union President at Natonal Sea.

He was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg and was on the Board of Managers of the Church. Dorne was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and spending time at home with his family.

Dorne is survived by his wife, Mary of 68 years, daughter, Jane Conrad, Lunenburg; son, Barry (Brenda) Oxner, Garden Lots; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan (Sharleen), Jaclyn (Corey), Pamela (Stephen), Jamie and Nicole (Donald), and four great grandchildren, Dhiren, Ryan, Rachel, Robyn and Nikhil.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Frances Swift.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Dorne with his family during visitation on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, and where a funeral service to celebrate Dorne’s life will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m., Marion Mawhinney, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
