Cherished Memories
"Once a time, in the forest primeval", (that's how Dad started his bedtime stories to Jen and me), there lived a fantastic father named King Richard, king of all the dads in the land. Here are a few of my cherished memories from his reign....
Pet turtles in our window wells, bringing our goats into the living room when it was too cold outside, searching for the Easter bunny and for Santa's reindeer hoof prints, yearly trips to Maine or Florida, camping on Cottontail Curl in Disney World, helping me paint my first car, trying to stay anchored during a gale in Tarpaulin Cove, crabbing with chicken legs, bluefishing from the Symphony, performing together in the Cape Cod Symphony, patrolling and teaching in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, leaving a butterfly on my pillow after my husband passed away - a gesture full of compassion, sharing his love of Lunenburg, and our daily conversations.
My Dad was always available with help, advice, guidance, and love. He is, and always will be, sorely missed.
Love you AAAAA Lot Dad.
