Obituary for Verne Mayola Nodding (Creaser)

Verne Mayola Nodding (Creaser)
It is with great sadness that the family of Verne Mayola Nodding, 87, Riverport, announces her passing on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, N.S.

Born in Riverport, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Violet (Ritcey) Creaser, and sister of Bertram (predeceased). Beloved wife and best friend of Keith (predeceased), cherished Mother of Ruth Romkey (Franz), Ottawa; Peggy (Robert) Barss, Rose Bay; Shirley Corkum (Murray) East Port Medway; Loving Nanny of Anthony, Wendy, Joey, Karen, Andrew, Rebecca and Julia (predeceased); Great Grandmother of Nadia, Jack, Zander, Madelyn and Maverick. Verne is fondly remembered by a large extended family and friends.

Verne worked outside the home in her earlier years, but her pride was in raising her daughters and seeing her family grow. Verne enjoyed the simple pleasures, and shared fond memories, of her life in Riverport. She enjoyed spending time at home cooking, working in her garden, and camping with friends and family in earlier years. She was an avid card player and enjoyed going to many community card parties. Mom was always happy to play cards, cribbage with family and friends, and enjoyed going to bingo whenever she had the opportunity.

Verne took an interest in her community of Riverport where she was member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and was happy to attend many gatherings at the Riverport Community Center.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, where a memorial service to celebrate Verne’s life will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Dr. Laurence Mawhinney, officiating. Interment will be in Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery, Riverport.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

The family of Verne would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg for their wonderful care of our mom during these past few months.
