Obituary for
Doris Edith Ernst
Doris Edith Ernst, 1931 – 2016
Doris passed away on Dec 21st after suffering a stroke.
She was the 7th child born to Winnie (Langille) and Arthur Ernst. She grew up and lived on the family farm in First Peninsula until she moved to Harbour View Haven.
She is survived by sisters Lucille Mosher, Ivy Ramey and brother Winston (Betty Jean), 24 nieces and nephews and many grand, great grand and great great grand nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sisters Mary Veinot, Eloise Karlsen, brothers Alton, Cyril, Herbert, and John.
Family was most important to Doris and she was a much loved aunt who spent many hours with her nieces, nephews and grands reading, colouring, doing puzzles, sharing meals with them and taking them on expeditions. She toured various countries as identified by her collection of souvenir coffee spoons. She visited Niagara Falls and drove across Canada with family to attend Vancouver Expo 86. Her shortest trip was in her car off the Saw Pit wharf into the harbour. She loved her line of pet dogs including the latest, Patty, a Bernese Mountain dog that helped her dislocate her shoulder while chasing some perceived prey. Doris was a kind, thoughtful, fun loving woman, who loved to dance, go on excursions and entertain family and friends.
Doris was employed for over 40 years by National Sea Products, acting as a Quality Control leader in her last role. She will be missed by all.
Thanks go out to the staff and her large family of friends at Harbour View Haven, as well as to the staff at the Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital who looked after her during her final days.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg. In keeping with Doris’s wishes a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the United Way of Lunenburg County or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
