Obituary for Wayne Alexander Rose

Wayne Alexander Rose
It is with great sadness that the family of Wayne Alexander Rose, 57, of Lunenburg, announces his passing on June, 21, 2017 at home.

Born in Hermitage, NL, he was a son of Mildred (Hiscock) Rose of Bishop’s Falls, NL and the late Alexander Rose.

Wayne began his fishing career at the age of fifteen, out of Gaultois, NL. In 1980 he moved to Lunenburg and served as a deckhand and cook aboard various draggers with National Sea. His last position was as 2nd engineer with Katsheshuk Fisheries out of St. John’s NL, until his health forced him to step down. Wayne enjoyed listening to country music and he was an avid Merle Haggard fan. When home from sea, spending time with his family and friends was always important, and he could always be counted on to make everyone laugh with his hilarious sense of humour.

He is survived by his daughters, Deanne and Natasha, both of Edson, AB; sisters, Margaret Rose, Harbour Breton, NL, Ruth (Gordon) Parsons, Georgetown, PEI, Melita (Ronald) Wells, Guelph, ON, Brenda (Rick) Thornhill, Bishop’s Falls, NL, Shelia Rose, Whynott’s Settlement; brother, John Rose, Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Mataya, Jayda, Juliet, Dazlyn and Landen; special nephew, Nicholas as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, Wayne was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Timmy Weaver and Claude Rose as well as a brother and sister in infancy.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg. In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, a memorial service will take place at a later date in Newfoundland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the S.H.A.I.D Tree Animal Shelter would be appreciated by the family.
