Obituary for Rose Anna Blanche Pritchard (Ayer)

PRITCHARD, Rose Anna Blanche- 90, Blue Rocks, Lunenburg County died Sunday June 25, 2017 in Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born November 18, 1926 in Parrsboro, she was the youngest daughter of the late Colby J. and Margaret (McClelland) Ayer.

Rose spent the first part of her married life in Parrsboro and when her husband became an Anglican priest in 1962 the family moved to Dayspring, Lunenburg County. Rose was involved in the Laubach Literacy program of Lunenburg County and was one of the founding members of the Mahone Bay Quilter’ s Guild . Over the years she was involved in many aspects of the church including Ladies Guild, Altar Guild, Church Council and Women’s Retreats at Monastery. After her children were grown she worked part time at Zellers in Bridgewater where she enjoyed her “work family”. Besides being a creative quilter, she was an avid reader. She enjoyed travelling, bowling and was part of several social birthday groups. Rose enjoyed a good game of auction 45’s and made many friends at the various games.

Rose is survived by her daughters, Brenda Munro (Brian), Fox Point; Pamela Oliver, Milton and Dawn Pritchard, Blue Rocks and grandson, Christian Oliver (fiancée Karen Skinner), Herring Cove and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Dr. Gregory P. Pritchard; brother, Wyman, sister, Cecilia, two siblings in infancy and son-in-law, Paul Oliver.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 29th 2:00 p.m. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks with The Very Reverend John Wright officiating. Private family committal in the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.
Donations can be made to Doctors without Borders ; Primates World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) ; Health Services Foundation of the South Shore ; Widows Trust Fund (Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, 1340 Cathedral Lane, Halifax, N.S B3H 2Z1) or charity of your choice . No flowers by request.
