Obituary for
Marshall Randolph Oickle
It is with great sadness that the family of Marshall Randolph Oickle, 69, of Fauxburg, Lunenburg County, announce his passing on Friday, September 4, 2009 at home.
Born in Lunenburg, Marshall was the son of Lucille (Oickle) Himmelman of Lunenburg and the late Derrel Oickle.
In his earlier years Marshall worked as a sheet-metal worker with Powers Brothers and then went on to work at Smith and Rhuland Shipyard and National Sea Products. A love for the sea took Marshall to work for many years as a scallop fishermen, receiving his Fishing Masters Certificate in the early 1970’s working with Scotia Trawlers and several other firms in the area, then most recently with Adams and Knickle retiring in 1994.
An avid sportsman, Marshall played baseball and hockey in his earlier years and enjoyed curling and bowling. He was a lover of the outdoors and could be found hunting and fishing with friends.
He was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg.
Besides his mother, Marshall is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Eisenhauer); son Jon (Christine Young), Windsor, Ont; sister, Sonja (Ronald Ottens) Lunenburg, brother-in-law Dwight Eisenhauer (Elaine Fisher) Lower LaHave, son-in-law Daniel Schwartz, Victoria, BC, step grand-daughter, Nicole and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by daughter, Kimberlee Ann Schwartz
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg where family and friends can share their memories of Marshall at visitation on Monday from 7:00 â€" 9:00 pm., and from where funeral service to celebrate Marshall’s life will held Tuesday at 2:00 pm, Rev. Robert Zinck, officiating. Interment will be in the Lower LaHave Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the South Shore Palliative Care, the Lower LaHave Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
