Obituary for Ray Arnold Lohnes

Ray Arnold Lohnes
Mr. Ray Arnold Lohnes, of New Ross Nova Scotia, died on Saturday April 14th at the age of 83.

Ray was born on November 16th 1934, in Riverport, Nova Scotia. After their home was destroyed in a
fire the family moved to Lunenburg and were longtime residents. After school and training at Ferry
Aviation Ray served in the Canadian Air Force for several years. Whilst there he was a member of the
Air Force band (and later the Lunenburg Citizens Band) before coming home and working at Powers
Bros. in Lunenburg.

Ray was an avid outdoorsman and always had a boat and a brand new car. His nieces Dorothy and
Sandra remember fondly the trips to dig clams, fish and procure lobsters. He doted on them with root
beer floats and never failed to bring home a brown bag of fresh liquorice pipes as a surprise.

Ray will be loved and missed by his surviving sister Rita Lohnes-Haines of Collingwood, ON nieces
Sandra Haines (Toronto) and Dorothy Schultz (Calgary) and his three Great-Nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Loraine Lohnes, mother Olive Conrad and sister Dorothy Lohnes.

At Rays request, no services will be held. Interment will be at Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery in Riverport
and condolences may be sent to Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home in Lunenburg, NS.
