Obituary for Laura May Croft

It is with great sadness that the family of Laura May Croft, 86, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Harbour View Haven Home For Special Care, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late James and Pauline (Nauss) Feener.

In her earlier years, Laura worked for Robin Jones and Whitman and later went to work for Lunenburg Sea Products and Himmelman's Jewellers.

Laura was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Margaret R. Unit of the U.C.W. She was President of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch # 23, was a Cub leader, delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered at Harbour View Haven, as well as being a dedicated volunteer with the Vet's Unit of Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

When Laura wasn’t giving of her time to others, she loved cooking and baking as well as making many sewed and smocked items for family and friends. Her joyful attitude and wonderful sense of humour will be missed by her family.

Laura is survived by her son, Danny (Cathy) Croft, Lunenburg; daughter, Diane (Peter) McNair, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Steven (Nadene), Leah (Patrick), Angela, Tracey Lynn, brother, George (Marie) Feener, sisters, Betty Purcell, of Lunenburg; Doris Feener, Bridgewater and several great-grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Trueman and brothers, Donald, Charles and James as well as sister Marion Forward.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A memorial service to celebrate Laura’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Central United Church, Lunenburg. Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Central United Church or a charity of your choice.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to all the staff at Harvour View Haven Home for Special Care for the exceptional care, love and compassion they gave to Laura during her stay there.
