Condolence: Dearest Heidy,

My heart flipped when I saw Freddie's obit. I can only imagine your sadness. He was a bright shining star. I will remember him always. And I think of you with love and friendship.

Condolence From: Hilary and Steven
Condolence: We have been fortunate to have been neighbours and friends with Heidy and Freddie for twenty years. Although we spend our winters elsewhere each trip "home" we were greeted by a note and a visit welcoming us back.
I look around our house and see reminders of Freddie's kindness to me when I, Hilary, was here on my own-the rocking chair he assembled, or the dandelion remover. I loved to stop by for the delicious espresso in the litte white cups.
I remember our trip to the valley for the Swiss national day. It was such a peasure to see how Heidy and Freddie were held insuch esteem.
But most of all I treasure the memories of sailing with Freddie. Once we were outside the last buoy, Freddie would hand me the wheel. He would smoke his pipe, we would chat, I would sing, we shared jokes. We sailed around Cross Island, over to Hirtles.
We rarely had guests who did not walk up the hill with me to say hello. My sons and grandchildren knew the kindess of Heidy and Freddie. I remember Freddie's son and grandchildren visiting for ice cream one warm summer afternoon.
These last few years we would see Heidy and Freddie walking hand in hand along our road. They taught us so much about devotion and love.
We will miss him very much.

Condolence: When we started in 2006 spending part of our summers in Feltzen South, it wasn’t long before we heard the word, “Heidy’nFreddy”. They were rarely spoken of as individuals, most often as a couple, and always with respect and affection. Initially, we were only here for a couple of weeks each summer, and did not socialize much, but from 2012 when we bought our house, we have been spending longer summers here and getting to know our neighbours better. We would occasionally meet Heidy’nFreddy on the road or at parties but, by then, they were having to spend more time in Switzerland for medical attention and we still didn’t get to know them well as we would have liked.
Then last summer, Heidy phoned up one day and invited us for afternoon tea in their beautiful home. We listened to the wonderful story of how they came here, initially to select a piece of land and then, a few years later, how they sat in a Lunenburg hotel and looked out in the bay to see a speck that they knew was the house that had been built for them. Once settled here, they were determined to be Canadian and they both plunged into local activities with unending enthusiasm.
Sensing our tea time was over, we made gestures to depart, only to realize that another whole meal at table with meats and cheeses and cakes awaited us. High tea indeed!
The neighbourhood will not be the same without Freddy, but we hope to see more of Heidy, and send her in the meantime, our deepest sympathies.
