Obituary for Edith Elizabeth Croft (Tanner)

It is with great sadness that the family of Edith Elizabeth Croft, 89, of First South, announces her passing on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia.

Born in Blue Rocks, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Calpurnia “Callie” (Whynacht) Tanner.

Edith was an active member of the First South United Church, where she was a member of the U.C.W.

She was a lifelong homemaker and loved looking after her home and family. Her home was her domain. Edith had a green thumb for her indoor plants, which thrived under her care. She also enjoyed going for drives with her family and especially loved long road trips whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Edith is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Joe) Forbes, Beaverbank; Mary (David) Kidson, Spectacle Lakes; son, David (Beryl) Croft, First South; sisters, Kathleen (Melbourne) Langille, Lunenburg; brother, Darryll (Christine) Tanner, Stonehurst; grandchildren, David Jr., Kelly, Darrel-John, Adam, Krista, Trevor, Matthew, sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, Hilton, son, Stephen and granddaughter Falyne.

The family would like to thank all the staff at South Shore Regional Hospital and the North Queens Nursing Home for the outstanding care and compassion shown to Edith and her family.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg and from where a funeral service to celebrate Edith’s life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., Gary Carey officiating. Interment will be in First South Cemetery, First South.
