Obituary for Marion Elizabeth Gale
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Marion Elizabeth Gale, 92 of Lunenburg and formerly of Greenwood, announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.
Born in Port Felix, Guysborough County, Marion was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Bond) Boudreau.
Our mom grew up in the tiny Acadian fishing village of Port Felix, NS. She left the village at an early age and moved to Halifax, NS, Saint John, NB and Ontario, where she would meet and marry our father, Gerry, a member of the RCAF. Military postings would take our family to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and British Columbia and mom was always able to make a loving home for us. She enjoyed cooking and baking and taking care of people, especially her family. Her sisters and their families were always very special to her, as well as the close friends she and our father gathered throughout his military career. As we grew older, she worked outside the home as a sales clerk in several clothing stores, which she enjoyed very much. She was an ardent church goer and was well known in the Queen of Heaven Chapel in Greenwood, NS. She could often be seen in the Greenwood/Kingston area with her red hat, walking Cuddles, her beloved Boston Terrier.
Mom also enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles, word find and solitaire. She will always be remembered for her feisty spirit and, although small in stature, she was always one to speak her mind and also for her serviette hats, which always decorated our family tables and those at Harbour View Haven, during her last few years.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at Harbour View Haven in Lunenburg for the wonderful care provided to our mom over the past few years; most specifically during her final days. Rest in peace, mom, and enjoy your reunion with all the loved ones who have preceded you. You will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Paul) Corbin, Cole Harbour, son, Jerry (Paula) Greenwood Square; 2 step-grandchildren, Jill and Scott; sister, Vita (Edward) Pearson, Woodstock, ON.
Marion was predeceased by her parents, husband, Gerald Henry Gale and sister, Dorothy Pettipas.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A service to celebrate Marion’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of NS; Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Harbour View Haven Home For Special Care, Lunenburg.
