Obituary for Graham Frank Harnish

It is with great sadness that the family of Graham Frank Harnish, 69, of Oakland announces his passing on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax.

Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of the late Neil and Marie (Stevens) Harnish.

Graham started his working career in the Stevens sail loft in Second Peninsula and then went to sea on the MV Research Vessel the Vema. He continued his working career at Mason sauerkraut plant and then went to work for 36 years with Highliner Foods, Lunenburg.

He was a faithful member of Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay. Graham was an avid biker and many will remember him for his love of his special camaro. Most important in his life was his family who he dearly loved and enjoyed times spent especially spoiling his daughters and grandchildren.

Graham is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughters, Natasha (Bruce) Bolivar; Pine Grove; Shawna Harnish (Bobbie Steele), Blockhouse and chosen daughter, Tara Burgoyne, Stitsville, ON; grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary, Autumn and Jahzarah; sister, Edna (Billy) Woundy, Second Peninsula.

He was predeceased by his parents, grand-daughter, Zurielle, and nephew, Ted Woundy.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. Memorial service to celebrate Graham’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Lee Simpson, officiating. Interment will be at a later date at the Second Peninsula Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Canadian Fabry’s Association or to the Second Peninsula Cemetery.
