Obituary for Jean Knickle (Hess)

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Knickle, 87, of Lunenburg and formerly of Blue Rocks, announces her passing on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.

Born in Liverpool, England she was a daughter of the late Thomas Richard and Sarah (Morgan) Hess Barringer.

Born in Liverpool, England, Jean moved to Canada with her family in 1947. She later married and raised her family in Northwest, and later, Blue Rocks. She was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks, and was a constant at the door for many of their suppers over the years. She enjoyed reading, joking around, knitting, bingo and visiting with family and friends.

Jean is survived by her sons, George (Carolyn) Levy, Hammonds Plains, Desmond (Donna) Knickle, Garden Lots; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Hazel) Levy, Michael (Laura) Levy, Shauna (Andrew) Miller, and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Penelope and Lachlan Miller, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her first husband, Berton Levy and husband, Raymond Knickle as well as granddaughter, Crystal Knickle and brother, George Hess.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Lunenburg. In keeping with Jean’s wishes a private graveside service will be held in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks or the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Harbour View Haven for the compassionate care shown to Mom over past few years. Your kindness and support were greatly appreciated.
