Obituary for Stacey John Hancock

It is with great sadness that the family of Stacey John Hancock, 47, of Tanner’s Settlement announces his passing at home on Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Born in Harbour Breton, NL, he was the son of the late Charles and Clarissa (Savoury) Hancock.

Stacey started his working career at an early age lumping on the fishing boats out of the port of Lunenburg and then went to work at the Irving Station. He went on to take a carpentry course at the N. S. Community College, Bridgewater, working for Richard Byers Carpentry. His working career later took him to sea where he was a scallop fisherman and then in later years at Composites Atlantic and Michelin Tire.

Stacey had a love of animals and the comfort he found spending time with his loyal dog Sage and cat Axel. They meant the world to him.

Stacey is survived by his son, Tristen, sister, Charlene Hancock (Clayton Banfield), Rose Bay, brothers, Sheldon (Eva Marie) Hancock, Lunenburg, Shawn Hancock (Ron Joyce) Chatsworth, ON; nephews, Patrick Hancock (Shelby Uhlman), Keith Hancock (Elyse), Elias Wile and Jonathan Clark (Tiffany Solila); great-niece, Olive and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Stacey’s life will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Interment will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, South Shore Mental Health or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
