It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Ann Jean DeBruin, 54, of Rhodes Corner, announce her passing on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of Clyde and Jean (Ernst) Mossman of Rhodes Corner.

In her earlier years, Shirley worked at Northern Reflections, Bridgewater and Brady’s Building Supplies and then went on to work at TD Canada Trust in Lunenburg, Comfort and Joy and later at Pineapple Creek in the Bridgewater Mall.

She was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Community Church, Bridgewater where she shared her gifts of music as Worship Leader. Shirley enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family and had a love for crafts and shared her Christmas ornaments to so many friends and enjoying many hours as a “Hockey Mom” watching the boys play hockey. She battled her illness with grace and dignity and she will be missed by so many.

Besides her parents, Clyde and Jean Mossman of Rhodes Corner, Shirley is survived by her husband. Thomas, sons, Shawn Jack (Chasity Brigley), Lapland; Deven Jack (Megan), Bridgewater, Jarrett DeBruin, Rhodes Corner; sister, Donna (Bill) Fullerton, Kemptville, ON; brothers, Neil Mossman, Bridgewater and Darren Mossman (Crystal), Dayspring; grand-daughter, Olivia; mother-in-law, Elva DeBruin, Maitland.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, with visitation, Monday, March 4, 2019 from 7 – 9 pm. And where a service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Willis Ott, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lighthouse Community Church, Bridgewater The Rose Fund or to a charity of your choice.

Hi, It's been since the 70's since I would have seen Shirley. My Mom, Rosalind (Mossman) Sutherland would have been her cousin. I remember visiting Great Uncle Ray and Great Aunt Minnie then and going to Clyde's to play with the kids. I am sorry for your loss. She looks to have been a beautiful person. May God comfort you as you go through this difficult time. Audrey (Sutherland) McAllister.
