Obituary for Elmore Marie Kenney (Ringer )

It is with great sadness that the family of Elmore Marie Blossom (Ringer) Kenney of Kentville, formerly of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at home, after a lengthy illness. She was 85.

Born in Mahone Bay on May 19, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Laura (Hamm) Ringer.

Elmore was extremely talented, taking many courses to perfect her skills. She was an excellent seamstress, as well as a painter with oil, watercolour, and charcoals. She also enjoyed working with ceramics, creating a collection of Santas from around the world. Paper tole was another of her passions. She had given many treasures to family over the years which provide us with a lasting memory.

Elmore is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Barry) Lewis, New Minas; son, Michael (Isabel Gallant), Kentville; granddaughter, Tara Lewis (Robert MacLeod), Rothesay NB; grandsons, Tyler Lewis (Katlyn Atwell), New Minas; Kristan Kenney (Melissa Price), Kingston; step-granddaughter, Janice (Ricky Hoare) Quinn, New Glasgow; great-grandchildren, Joshua (her special, little "Dr. Kenney"), Kieran, and Kaia; step-great grand-children, Rian, Meleena, Hailey, and Aurora; sisters-in law, Ann Ringer, Lunenburg, and Roselia Sheaves, Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Weldon; half-brother, Harold Johnston; brother, Robert Ringer; sister, Bessie Whynot; grandson, Ryan Kenney; great-granddaughter, Adrianna Kenney; step-great grandson, Alex Hoare.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held, at a later date at Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Society, the Heart and Stoke Foundation or to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Matthew Targett, Kentville for his care of Elmore over the years.
