Obituary for Rockey Allen Lohnes

It is with great sadness that the family of Rockey Allen Lohnes, 63, of Rhodes Corner announces his passing. Rockey passed away peacefully at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg on Saturday, March 9, 2019 after losing a long and hard-fought battle with cancer; his family was by his side.

Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Frederick Allen and Shirley ”Joyce” (Nowe) Lohnes.

Rockey leaves behind his beloved wife Patsy; daughters Stacey (Joel) Benoit, Rhodes Corner and Lisa (Daniel) Veinot, Upper LaHave; brothers, Richard (Leona), New Brunswick; Reid (Catherine), Cookville; and two grandchildren, Jase and Alyssa.

Rockey was a true family man and loved nothing more than spending time with his loved ones. Family dinners and time spent outside at the family cottage were some of his favourite things. Rockey was a devoted husband of 41 years to his wife, Patsy; there wasn’t much they didn’t do together. He was a selfless, caring man who would gladly give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it more. He gave freely of his heart and his time. He was a hard-working man who worked for 42 years in the marine electronics business.

Rockey’s family invites you to join them in sharing memories during visitation on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Svante Olson, officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Silver’s Cemetery, Rhodes Corner.

Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to “The Rose Fund” (The Rosanne Himmelman Cancer Patient Fund, "The Rose Fund", raises funds to help ease the pain for the residents of our local communities who are struggling financially while being treated for cancer), the IWK Health Centre or to a charity of your choice.
