Obituary for Cecil Napean Mason

It is with great sadness that the family of Cecil Napean Mason, 100, of Lunenburg, announces his passing on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at the Veteran’s Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of the late Rector and Jennie (Lohnes) Mason.

Cecil started his working career at National Sea Products, Lunenburg and then went on to serve with the West Nova Scotia Regiment during World War II. After the war he returned to work at National Sea until his retirement in 1984 after 47 years of service. He also took great pride looking after his rental properties within the Town of Lunenburg.

Cecil enjoyed spending time at home with family, supporting them watching in their hockey games, wood carving or playing his mandolin and listening to the good old country music. Cecil was life long member of Central United Church, Lunenburg.

Cecil is survived by a daughter, Nancy Mason, Mount Uniacke; sons, Brian (April) Lunenburg; Karl, Bridgewater; brother, Leslie (Barbara), First South; grandchildren, Scott, Ryan, Vanessa, Rebecca, Alicia and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Deegan and Mya and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doris, sisters, Evelyn and Marilyn brothers, Gordon, Franklyn and James.

A service to celebrate Cecil’s life will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Central United Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

Flowers from the immediate family only, memorial donations may be made to Central United Church, the Veteran’s Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital or to Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital.
