Born in St. Joseph’s, NL, he was a son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Wells) Murphy.

Gerard worked for over thirty years in his scrap metal business in Mader’s Cove. In his younger years he enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. In more recent years, he loved to spend much of his time with his grandson, Jamie and great-grandson Decklyn, both of whom he was very proud. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Bridgewater.

Gerard is survived by his grandson, Jamie, Mahone Bay; great-grandson, Decklyn; sons, Patrick and step-son, Ken both of Bridgewater.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wives, Cecelia, Daisy, Barbara Veinot, and Joyce; son, William (Billy); sisters, Blanche, Elizabeth Picco; brothers, Bill, Leo and Fred.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L.
