It is with great sadness that the family of David Charles Kidson, 68, of Spectacle Lakes announce his passing on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Halifax, David was the son of the late Roderick and Dorothy (Works) Kidson.

David went to sea at an early age and worked his entire career as a scallop fisherman for various companies out of the ports of Lunenburg and Riverport. An avid outdoorsman, he was most happy hunting and fishing or just maintaining his property.

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 23, Lunenburg where he gathered with friends to enjoy a good game of pool. He loved his family, especially times spent with his grandchildren and he will be deeply missed by so many friends.

David is survived by his wife, Mary, sons, Trevor (Vanessa Wong Kidson), Oromocto, Matthew (Sarah Longmire), Greenwood; grandchildren, Heisli, Tesla and Sprague; sisters, Beverley (Vaughn) Flynn, Dartmouth; Dorothy (Ivan) Dahl, Bridgewater, Winnie (Leo) Boucher, Mount Pleasant; Wendy (Lawrence) Dobbin, Alberta and Linda Kidson (Lorraine Lohnes), Mount Pleasant; step-father, David Wagner, Stonehurst, step-sisters, Sharon (Robert) Corkum, Blue Rocks, Donna Hawco, Big Lots; step-brothers, Robert (Annette) Wagner, Garden Lots, Brenton (Collette) Wagner, Stonehurst, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Falyne, infant sister, Leah and brother, Lloyd.

Friends are invited to share their memories of David with his family on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the First South Cemetery, Gary Carey, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First South Cemetery, the QEII Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.

Dear Cousin,
I wish I could be there to give you a hug. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember the first time I almost met David. I had you behind the steering wheel of my Dad's car to teach you how to drive. I very quickly realized that you were behind the steering wheel for a totally different reason.... to search for David!!!!!

But it was a win-win. You got your license... and you got David!

Cherish your memories with David. Hugs from Africa.

Cousin Eric
