Obituary for Doreen Martha Spencer
It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Martha Spencer, 83 of Bridgewater, announces her passing on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Sherbrooke, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Mary (Scott) Barnes.
In her earlier years, Doreen worked at Kerr's Restaurant, Lunenburg, and then with National Sea Products.
Doreen enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished her time with family. She enjoyed camping with family in earlier years, had a passion for dancing and many will remember her for her love of Christmas.
Doreen is survived by her daughter, Rosemary (Michael) Cook, Bridgewater, son, Gary (Lisa) Rees, Northwest; brother, Russell (Pauline) Barnes, Kentville; grandchildren, Tammy, Tabatha, Skyler, Jeremy, Jasmine and Christina; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Leo, Jack, Colby, Noah, Ava, Elijah, Riley, Davidson, Mia and Michaella, companion, George Daniels; nieces, Wendy, Robyn and nephews, Brian and Allan.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joe, grand-son, Michael; brothers, Robert, James and Scott.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Doreen with her family during visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and where funeral service to celebrate Doreen's life will be held on Friday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Judi Phillips, officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Silver's Cemetery, Rhodes Corner.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Sunshine Room, Halifax or to the The Lodge That Gives, Halifax.
