Obituary for Joyce "Vivian" Mossman

It is with deep great sadness that I, announce the passing of my mother, Joyce “Vivian” Mossman, 100 years at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater on Monday, July 1, 2019.

Born in Bayport on May 22, 1919, Vivian was the second daughter of the late St. Clair and Carrie (Lohnes) Conrad. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Over the years, mom tried her hand at many things, waitressing at the Red Door Restaurant in Bayport, packing scallops at Booth Fisheries in Lunenburg, “drying fish” for a plant in Hubbards, painting ceramics, gardening, both vegetables and flowers, but her greatest love was her home and the nurturing of her family.

She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rose Bay and in her earlier years enjoyed attending their “socials” where she could be found selling fudge at the bake table.

She is survived by daughter, Faye, Bayport, daughter-in-law, Valerie (Warren) Meisner, Bayport and several cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Olen, son, Keith, sister, Dana Wilson and brother, Lloyd Conrad.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. In keeping with Mom’s wishes, there will be a graveside Service on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bayport Cemetery, Bayport, Rev. Willis Ott, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bayport Cemetery, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or to a charity of your choice.

“And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “There! She’s gone.” There are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, “There she comes!” And that is life!
