Obituary for Lucy Evelyn Francis
It is with great sadness that the family of Lucy Evelyn Francis, 90, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
Born in Hermitage, NL, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bertha (Rose) Harris.
Lucy was a faithful member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg and over the years was a member of the Altar Guild and supported the work of the Anglican Church Women.
Her love of life, family, friends and the community at large were so important to her. She was a golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives.
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Roland) Lilly, sons, Raymond (Mary) Francis, and Hubert (Dianna) Francis all of Lunenburg; grandchildren, Shannon (Robert) Sherri (Liam), Rodney (Kim), Ryan (Brittany) Michael (Alexandria) Terry (Jamie-Lee), Shawn, Nicholas (Jessica), David (Alicia), Stephen (Lisa) and 15 great grandchildren, grand-daughter-in-law, Coleen; sister, Margaret Blagdon, Coombs Cove, NL, brother, Wesley (Donna) Harris, Hermitage, NL, sister-in-law, Clara Harris, Hermitage, NL and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oliver, grandson, Jeffrey Lilly, brothers, Hubert and Gordon.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Lucy with her family during visitation on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Memorial service to celebrate Lucy’s life will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Laura Marie Piotrowicz, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Diabetes Canada or to a charity of your choice.
