Obituary for Cheryl Darlene Tanner

It is with great sadness that the family of Cheryl Darlene Tanner, 74 of Stonehurst announces her passing on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Maude (Miller) Greek.

In her earlier years Cheryl worked in the Herring Plant in Blue Rocks and the for a number of years worked at Stedman’s Store, Lunenburg. She was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks where she sang in the choir and supported the work of the church in any way she could. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and enjoyed spending time at home with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Mark, Stonehurst; Shawn (Jennifer), Centre and Craig (Danielle), Upper LaHave; grandchildren, Jason, Christina, Arthur and Matthew, great grandchild, Griffin, sister, Glenda (George) Czmola, Winnipeg, Manitoba and brother, Loren, Windsor.

Besides her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by her daughter, Melissa and an infant son.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. 3, Lunenburg. Memorial service to celebrate Cheryl’s life will be held on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks, The Very Rev. John Wright, officiating. Interment will be in the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.

Flowers from the immediate family only, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks.

The family would like to especially thank their neighbour, Jennifer Lowe for her compassion, care and for being such a great friend to Cheryl during these past few years.
