Obituary for Leon Warren Corkum
It is with great sadness that the family of Leon Warren Corkum, 82, of Middle LaHave announces his passing on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Feltzen South, he was the son of the late Warren and Marion (Lohnes) Corkum.
Leon started his earlier working career in the Carpentry Business with Wallace Corkum, and later went to work for Riverport Seafoods and then for 36 years with National Sea Products in in the cooked fish department.
In his earlier years he was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Middle LaHave and a member of the Lunenburg Rod and Gun Club.
Leon enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family, daily drives of the area, opportunities to dine out and his cherished times spent over the years with his four legged friends, his boston terriers.
Leon is survived by a daughter, Judy Corkum, Upper LaHave; daughter-in-law, Gwen Corkum, Dartmouth; grandchildren, ; Kyle Buffett (Robin Tanner) , Lunenburg; Tiffany Buffett (Andrew Burrell), Calgary, AB; Miranda Corkum (Jon Porter), Halifax; Warren Corkum, Dartmouth; great-grandchild, Jayden and a brother, Lewis (Gloria), Langley, BC.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley, son, Barry and an infant brother.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 1213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, with visitation Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and where a funeral service to celebrate Leon’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, East LaHave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riverside Cemetery, East LaHave or to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
