Obituary for Mary Idora Oxner

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Idora Oxner, 92, of Lunenburg announces her passing on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Blanche (Risser) DeMone.

In her earlier years, Mary worked at Rudolf’s Ladies Wear for 35 years and later at Famous Town Ladies Wear in Lunenburg. Actively involved in her church of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Mary sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Talent Club. Many will remember Mary for her volunteering at Harbour View Haven for over 15 years. Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mary loved her summers camping at the lake and traveling with her family. Her love of Disney, Christmas and life was contagious. She loved baking and knitting which has been enjoyed by family and the community. She was generous, caring and will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Jane Conrad, Bridgewater, son, Barry (Brenda) Oxner of Garden Lots, grandchildren, Pamela (Stephen), Jamie, Nicole (Donald), Jonathan (Sharleen), Jaclyn (Corey); great grandchildren, Rachel, Robyn, Meredith, Dhiren, Ryan, Nikhil.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A private family interment will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, Rev. Suk Ho Lee, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care of the South Shore.

If flowers grow in heaven,
Lord, then pick a bunch for me.
Then place them in my nanny’s arms
And tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love and miss her
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheeks and hold
her for awhile.
