Obituary for Cecil Oliver Robar

It is with great sadness that the family of Cecil Oliver Robar, 93, of Bridgewater, announces his passing on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Home.

Born in Middle Cornwall, Cecil was the son of the late Emery and Margaret (Ernst) Robar. He married Rhoda at the age of 37 and celebrated 56 cherished years.

Cecil’s early days of work included being a general labourer, digging power poles holes by hand at Nova Scotia Power for many years and his working life included almost 20 years of industrial shipping with the end of his career doing carpentry work.

Cecil was an avid car enthusiast and he was fortunate and proud to drive till the age of 93. He enjoyed gardening and especially his red flowers.

Cecil worshipped the short time he got to spend with his adoring daughter, Gailyn and loved his boys dearly along with his wonderful grandchildren. He was so proud when they came to visit.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Rhoda, sons, Elvis (Doreen Carter), Beaverbank; Dwayne, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Stacey (Matthew) Ernst, Upper Cornwall; Sarah (Garett), Sackville; Kirk Robar, Bridgewater; Kerry, Thunder Bay, On; Emma, South Carolina; Carleigh, Chelsea, NS; and a sister, Noreen, Bridgewater.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Gailyn Knickle, brothers, Delbert and Vincent.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Cecil with his family during visitation at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and from where funeral service to celebrate Cecil’s life will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Rev. James Haughn officiating. Interment will be in New Cornwall Memorial Garden, Middle Cornwall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the V.O.N. of Lunenburg County or the New Cornwall Memorial Garden Cemetery.
