Obituary for Aubrey Stuart Zinck Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Aubrey Stuart Zinck Jr., 63 of Lunenburg announces his passing on Friday, November 15, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Lunenburg, Aubrey was the son of Aubrey Zinck Sr. of Mahone Bay and the late Aileen (Young) Zinck.

Aubrey obtained his carpentry trade in 1978 and began his career at his father’s business, Zinck & Hynick. After 11 years of working with his dad he got offered a position with Sedco 709 offshore drilling in which he accepted. Four years later, he returned home to start his own business, Aubrey S. Zinck Jr. General Contracting, in which he operated successfully for 25 years. After retirement in 2009 he kept busy with his many craft projects in which he enjoyed immensely. Aubrey looked forward to his daily visits at his shop from his many dear friends.

Active within his community he was an Honorary member of the Lunenburg Fire Department, a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and in earlier years a member of the Cross Island Hillbillies and enjoyed curling with the Fire Department.

He is survived by his father Aubrey Zinck Sr. (Kaye Joudrey), his wife, Nancy, daughters, Marilyn (Bill), Centre; Melissa (Robert) Centre, Melanie (James), St. John, NB; grandchildren, Ethan, Lily and Nathaniel and sister, Jocelyn (Eric) Wentzell, Scarsdale and two nieces and mother-in-law, Doris Mossman of Lunenburg.

He was predeceased by his mother, Aileen and an infant brother, Michael.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A memorial service to celebrate Aubrey’s life will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Suk Ho Lee, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. Reception to follow at the Lunenburg Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Lunenburg Fire Department or to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
