Born in Sandy Point, he was the son of the late James and Alva (Hemeon) Abbott.

Morton started his working career at the early age of 9, fishing with his dog out of a dory to provide food for his family and then went on to deliver milk for a number of years. He was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay.

Morton was a a quiet man who enjoyed the simple pleasure of life, spending time with family and friends in his home, feeding his pet seagull, “Hotdog” and just taking an interest in the folks of Mahone Bay. He will be missed by so many who remember his kind words, “Yes Dear” and “Right On”

Morton is survived by sisters, Lenora Begin, and Marie (Neil) Cleveland both of Mahone Bay, Kathleen Lantz, Pleasantville, his “surrogate daughter” and niece, Kathleen (Faren) Heisler, Blockhouse and other several nieces and nephews.
