Obituary for Philip Reginald Snyder

Snyder, Philip Reginald, 1945-2019 of Dayspring passed away on November 24, 2019 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Philip is survived by his wife, Trudy, his sister, Susan Clattenburg (Dale); his niece, Julie Mason (Jamie); his nephews, Mark Clattenburg (Carolyn); Steve Clattenburg (Andrea) and his brother-in-law, Courtney Veinot.

Following High School, he furthered his education at the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology, graduating from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. In 1966, he began his accomplished journey at Snyder’s Shipyard.

Philip started working during the summers at age 14 with his father at the family business, (Snyder’s Shipyard) eventually taking it over ably assisted by his business partner, Wade Croft. Over the years, he had many interesting projects such as building Theodore Tugboat, Bluenose II and many fishing vessels. His customers became his friends and many wonderful relationships were formed.

Philip enjoyed snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, boating and wonderful fun-filled times at the Lake Mush-a Mush cottages. He was also a proud member of the Dayspring and District Fire Department.

It was in 1967 that he met the love of his life, Trudy. They were married in 1969, this past May having celebrated the 50th year milestone. For all those years they shared many good times and in later years some health challenges. As was promised that many years previous, Trudy’s commitment to Philip for love in sickness and in health was truly fulfilled.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Philip with his family during visitation on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and where a memorial service to celebrate Philip’s life will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Paul Jensen, officiating. Interment will be in the Dayspring Cemetery.

No flowers by request, memorial donations may be made to the Dayspring and District Fire Department or to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank our friends and neighbours for all their assistance throughout Philips health challenged years.
