Obituary for Jamie Walter Almeda

Jamie Walter Almeda, 51, passed away on January 29, 2020 in Toronto, Ontario.

Born in Halifax at the Grace Maternity Hospital on June 3, 1968.

Jamie graduated from Lunenburg High School in 1986 and then graduated from Dalhousie University and TUNS in Civil Engineering. Jamie was a dedicated civil engineer who worked in Vancouver, British Columbia for Acres International and Toronto, Ontario for MMM and Toronto International Airport Projects. Jamie was generous, funny and considerate, good to his family, and devoted to his dogs, Lola and Paola. Jamie was always ready to help someone, especially with their computer problems.

Jamie is survived by his loving parents; father, Frank Almeda, Ottawa, (Christine) and mother, Gloria Turner, Lunenburg (Robert) and his adoring grandmother Edith Tobin Taylor, Lunenburg, his brother Mark Almeda, Ottawa (Janet) and sister Terri Lynn Almeda, Halifax, as well as uncles Abram Almeda (Assunta) and Ken Almeda (Debbie), and many cousins and close friends.

Jamie was predeceased by his grandfather, Mark Tobin, his grandparents Augustus and Rita Almeda, uncle Augustus (Gus) Almeda and aunt Rosalina Benteau.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg and from where a funeral service celebrating Jamie’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Grace Caines Corkum officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be greatly appreciated by the family.
