Obituary for Edward Leo Mosher

It is with great sadness that the family of Edward Leo Mosher, 85, of Lunenburg, announces his passing on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Indian Point, he was the son of the late Stannage and Mary (Vaughn) Mosher.

Eddie worked in the boat building industry most of his working life, starting at an early age with Clarence Heisler in Indian Point and moving on to McLean's shipyard in Mahone Bay. He then joined Smith and Rhuland Shipyard in Lunenburg as a master shipwright where he worked on the Bluenose II, HMS Bounty and HMS Rose, and later with David Stevens in Second Peninsula, during which time he built the Atlantica at Expo ‘67. Eddie continued his working career with National Sea Products where he was employed for 24 years. He concluded his career as the resident boat builder at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic where he built several dories, the Maud RM and the Bluenose boat launch model. Eddie also built the fleet of dories used annually at the local dory races.

Over the years, Eddie was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where he took a great interest in the work of the church. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all his family and friends.

Eddie is survived by his daughters, Krista Mosher- Cox (Peter Cox), Halifax; Tina (Ken) Eisner, First Peninsula; sons, Leon (Marlene) First Peninsula; Philip (Pam Greer), First Peninsula; grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Laura, Cameron, Kelsie, Maisy, Joseph and Andrea; sister, Viola Eisnor; sisters-in-law, Verona Mosher, Connie Nauss and Edith Nauss and numerous nieces and nephews and his extended Brewster family.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mona, companion, Beatrice “Pam” Brewster; sisters, Ruth and Clara; brothers, Ralph, Charles, William, Donald and Elmore.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Eddie with his family during visitation on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg. Funeral Service to celebrate Eddie’s life will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Rick Pryce, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice.
