Obituary for Roderick "Rod" St. Clair Emeneau

On March 7, 2020, Roderick “Rod” St. Clair Emeneau of First Peninsula, peacefully passed away at the age of 92, in Lunenburg at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Fred and Hilda (Tanner) Emeneau.

Rod is survived by his devoted wife Kathryn “Kay” (Miller). They were married in 1949 and were inseparable for 70 years.

Loving father to Jane and son-in-law Phillip LeCroy, First Peninsula; Frederick and daughter-in-law Darlene Emeneau, Upper Tantallon; and Peter (deceased) and daughter-in-law Debbie Emeneau, Lunenburg.

Brother to Anita Emeneau, First Peninsula; Audrey Worthington, Burlington, ON; and David (Geraldine) Emeneau, Lunenburg.

Proud “Papa” to Stephen, Heather, Kathryn, Ashley, Shawn, Ian, Brandon, Julie, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Sam, Maggie, and Nora. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Besides his parents and son, he was predeceased by brothers, Franklin, Eric, Elmer, and sister, Evangeline Stevens.

As a young man, he worked for Powers Brothers and was a member of the Canadian Militia. Later, he was a respected entrepreneur and owner of Emeneau’s Beverages Ltd. Retiring young, Rod and Kay traveled Europe, then North America in their motorhome.

Rod spent his winters in Texas and Arizona with Kay, and many friends they met through RVing. He became a skilled woodworker and stain glass artist. Summers were spent outside where he will be remembered for his love of working with his tractor on his land and boating with his family.

A memorial service for Rod will take place at a later date with burial in Second Peninsula Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations are made to a charity of your choice.
