Obituary for Joy Valentina Tibbo

It is with great sadness that the family of Joy Valentina Tibbo, 42 of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Monday, March 30, 2020 at home.

Born in Harbour Breton, NFLD, Joy is the daughter of Gordon and Ethel (Osbourne) Tibbo of Northwest.

Joy received her earlier education at the Lunenburg High School and then went on to work at the Subways in Lunenburg and Chester; the Knot Pub, was self-employed with a car wash and a fish chip wagon and in recent years worked with Heart to Heart doing home care for the elderly.

Life was not always easy for Joy, but she carried on and found great enjoyment in her two boys, family, cooking and baking and spending time with great friends.

Joy was a very caring person who enjoyed some of the simplest things in life. She lived every day to the fullest, she was always game for a good time and had a funny, crazy sense of humor. She loved everyone in her life, especially her sons and would literally give anyone the shirt off her back. She loved being free and doing things on the spur of the moment, often referring to herself as a flower child. She loved the outdoors and going camping. She loved life. Joy has made a lifetime of memories in her short 42 years and has touched so many people along the way. Joy was loved very much by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. “Live wild flower child”.

Besides Joy’s parents, Gordon and Ethel Tibbo of Northwest, she is survived by her companion, Junior Forward, Greenfield; sons, Steven Creaser, Bridgewater; and Logan England, Spectacle Lakes; sisters, Cammy Tibbo (Konrad Haumering) of Spectacle Lakes; Deloris Tibbo (Michael Smith), Fall River; Trina Tibbo, Grimm Rd., brothers, Edward Tibbo, Lunenburg and Roy (Melissa) Tibbo, Spectacle Lakes and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and she will be forever loved by her two first cousins, Julie Clarke, Lunenburg and Victoria Tibbo, Tanner’s Settlement whom she often referred to as her chosen sisters.

Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy # 3, where a service to celebrate Joy’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family.

The family would like to thank Joy’s doctors, especially Dr. Debra Gowan, Dr. Edward Farrell; Dr. Anne Chiasson and the Palliative Care Team, Melanie Spence, Lunenburg County Home Support for their wonderful care and concerns given to Joy during her illness. A special thanks to the Nurses of the Lunenburg County VON who went well beyond to make sure Joy was comfortable at home. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
