Obituary for George Alvin Feener

It is with great sadness that the family of George Alvin Feener, 84, of Lunenburg announces his peaceful passing after a short, courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 03, 2020 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, August 20, 1935, he was the son of James Albert Feener and Pauline Mae (Nauss) Feener.

George was a member of Central United Church, Lunenburg. He was employed with National Sea for 40 years. He was an active member with the Lunenburg Fire Department for 37 years and an honorary member up until his passing. In his younger years he was active with the track and field and dory racing.

George is survived by his wife, Marie of 64 years; daughters, Susan (Randy) Dagley, Chester; Sharon (John) Cross, Rose Bay; sons, Tony (Valerie) Feener, Lunenburg; Wayne (Debbie) Feener, Naugler’s Road; 9 grand-children and 9 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Betty Purcell, Lunenburg; and Doris Feener, Bridgewater..

He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Charles and James and sisters, Laura Croft, Marion Forward.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Cremation has taken place and keeping with George’s wishes there will be no memorial services.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Central United Church or to the Lunenburg Fire Department.
