Obituary for Jean Elizabeth Clarke

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Elizabeth Clarke, 101, of Lunenburg and formerly of Rose Bay, announces her passing on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.

Born in Riverport, Jean was the daughter of the late Frederick and Leone (Conrad) Ritcey.

Over the years she was a faithful member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rose Bay and a member of the E.L.W. of the church.

Jean enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time with family at home, baking, sewing, working in her flower gardens and spending quality times with her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her love of life, family, friends and the community at large were so important to her. Jean’s quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her. She was a golden thread of love spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives.

Jean is survived by a daughter Betty (Roland) Strowbridge, grandchildren, Lisa (Neil), Heather (Kevin) Wendy (Stephen); Stacey (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Brandon, Lacey, Logan, Natalie, Bailee, Mason and Jessica and great-great grandchild, Maverick; sister, Verna Myra, Lunenburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Augustus, son, Gordon, sisters, Evelyn, Grace, brothers, Gordon, Owen, Reginald and a brother in infancy.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at on 11: 00 A. M. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery, Riverport, Rev. Rick Pryce officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
