Obituary for Ruth Delores Foley

It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Delores Foley, 75, formerly of Bridgewater, announces her passing on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Villa Saint Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, Yarmouth County.

Raised in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Moyle and Luella (Keddy) Dauphinee.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Madison (Morgan Creaser), Halifax; sisters, Nancy (Richard) Sider, Lower Sackville, and Wendy (Douglas) Keddy, Fauxburg; nieces, Natasha Sider (Shaun Bigg), Halifax, and Michelle (Adam) Boyd, Wolfville; nephews, Daniel Sider, Lower Sackville, and Jayme Keddy, Halifax; and cousins, Doris Ernst, Halifax, and David Dauphinee, MI.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gordon and sister, Betty Dauphinee.

Ruth was a long-time employee of the Lunenburg Day Care Centre and played an instrumental role in the development of that institution. She took much pride in witnessing the children under her care grow into adult members of the community; she had a great passion for working with youth, which guided her involvement in majorettes and other community organizations. Outside her work, Ruth loved to be with her family. She also had a life-long love of music, which she shared by singing in numerous local groups as well as with her sisters.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside service for family will take place at the Northwest Baptist Cemetery, Northwest on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Health Services Foundation of the South Shore, VON Lunenburg County Branch, Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
