Obituary for Robert Wesley Wentzell

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Wesley Wentzell, 73, of Back Centre, announces his sudden passing on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at home.

Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Doreen (Higdon) Wentzell.

Robert spent his entire working career with Highliner Seafoods in Lunenburg. He began his career cutting fish, and then moved onto Diesel Mechanic, working on the boats until the end of the wet fish industry. He then moved onto Maintenance Technician, working on Plant machinery until he retired after 49 years of service. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, working in his shop doing automotive repairs for family and friends, and many will remember his 1979 Chevy pickup which he was always out and about town with, usually accompanied by his faithful dogs.

Robert is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Mary; daughter, Tanya (Joel) Knickle, Back Centre; son, Troy (Margo) Wentzell, Italy Cross; grandchildren, Jordyn Knickle, Devin Knickle, Peyton Wentzell; sister, Karen Colp; brother, Gilbert; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, in First South Cemetery, First South. Rev. Rick Pryce officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
