Obituary for Amy Helena Tanner

It is with great sadness that the family of Amy Helena Tanner, 87, of Blue Rocks, announces her passing at the home of her son Greville, in Blue Rocks on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

Born in Blue Rocks, she was the daughter of the late Greville and Maude (Tanner) Tanner.

Amy was a faithful member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church where she sang in the church choir, served on the Altar Guild and supported the work of the church in any way she could. In her earlier years Amy worked at various positions in and around Blue Rocks. She retired from Highliner Seafoods after a number of years of service.

Amy is survived by her sons, Greville Tanner (Charmaine Skinner), Blue Rocks and Tony (Jyl) Tanner of Centre; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Kenny) Knickle, Garden Lots; three grandchildren, Krisanne (Jay) Tanner-McLain, New Cumberland, Richard (Heidi) Tanner, Calgary, Cory (Kari) Tanner, Sable River; four great-grandchildren, Melissa (Johnathan) Ernst, New Cumberland, Ryan Wentzell, Dartmouth, Emma Tanner and Christa Tanner, Calgary; one great-great grandchild, baby Callie, New Cumberland; brother, Frederick Tanner, of Caledonia.

Besides her parents, Amy was predeceased by her husband Maxwell in 1989; son, Christopher; infant daughter, Katherine Ann as well as an infant son; sister, Barbara Dominey; brothers, Cecil, Creighton, Ray; daughters– law, Brenda Cochrane and Nancy Tanner.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, and where a service for family to celebrate Amy’s life will be held Monday by invitation only; The Very Rev. John Wright, officiating. Interment will be in the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Axel Saile, NP, for all his compassionate care over the years; as well as Debbie Skinner (Lunenburg County Home Support), and Judy Heisler for all the love and care shown to Amy.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations, may be made to St. Barnabas Anglican Church or to a charity of your choice.
