Obituary for Linda Diane Warren (MacDonald)

It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Diane Warren, 66 of Blue Rocks, announces her passing on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Daniel and Frances Shirley (Tanner) MacDonald.

In her earlier years, Linda stayed at home to raise her children. Linda always enjoyed taking care of others so, as her children got older, she decided to start taking care of numerous elderly folks in her community by cooking, cleaning and running errands for them. She also worked at the Knot Pub for over 20 years until her illness no longer made that possible.

To those that knew Linda, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and found the greatest enjoyment spending time with her family who will miss her dearly.

Linda is survived by her companion, Derek Holdbrook; son, Jamie (Tiffany Crouse) of Centre; daughters, Denise Mitchell (Ian Chafe), Chester Basin, Candace (Mark) Nodding, Spectacle Lakes, Felicia (Georgios) Apostolou, Mahone Bay, daughter in-law, Lorie Anne Morash, Centre; grandchildren, Kyle, Hayli, Nathan, Ben, Hannah, Sierra, Kaelyn, Lacie, Ella and Airis and great grandchildren, Londyn, Irelynn, Danika and Isla; sisters, Heather MacDonald (Jimmy Russell) Lunenburg; Nancy(Clyde) Johnson, Gold River, Claire Rafuse, Dartmouth, brother, Robert MacDonald, Bridgewater, sister in-laws, Sharon (Lester) Morrison, Martin’s River and Joanne (Garnett) Bezanson, Lunenburg; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Albert; sister, Yvonne MacDonald; mother in-law, Florence Pentony; father in-law Nathan Warren; brother in-laws, Melvin Thorne, Nathan Warren Jr. and Kenneth Purdy and nephew, Kelly Thorne.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg where a memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held by invitation only, on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Laura Marie Piotrowicz, officiating. Covid -19 Restrictions to be observed.

Linda’s many friends are invited to gather at the interment at 3:00 p.m. at the Lower Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks, following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Lodge that Gives, Halifax.

Linda’s children would like to thank her longest and dearest friends Christine Hanhams and Linda Tanner, and her chosen family, Bruce and Louise Holdbrook, for all their love and support throughout her illness. Your generosity and love will never be forgotten. They would also like to thank Derek Holdbrook for being with Linda every step of the way during her battle with cancer. She was so grateful to have him by her side, especially during her hardest days. Your love and support brought comfort not only to her but also to us.
