Obituary for Raymond william Oxner

Raymond william  Oxner
It is with sadness that the family of Raymond William Oxner, 79, of Lower LaHave announce his peaceful passing on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 surrounded by his daughters and son at home.

Born in Lower LaHave, he was a son of the late William and Emily (Tremills) Oxner.

In his earlier years, Raymond fished out of Lunenburg and later worked at Riverport Seafoods and then went on to work for 12 years with the Bedford Institute of Oceanography until his retirement.

A life-long resident of Lower LaHave, he took a great interest in his community and will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughters, Janice (Donald) Freeman, Bridgewater; Linda (Thomas) Nickerson, East LaHave; son, Andrew Oxner, Lunenburg; step-daughter, Shelly (Michael) Mills; step-sons, David (Vickie) Rhodenizer; Glen (Dale) Rhodenizer; Brian (Charlotte) Snow; Darrell (Pam) Snow; Derrick Snow; sister, Ethel Brunelle, Halifax; grandchildren, Glenn Freeman, David Freeman, Nathan Herritt, Devin Herritt, Colin Herritt, Drew Oxner, Shaylyn Oxner, Luke Oxner, Tia Oxner; step-grandchildren, Kelly Snow, Melanie Snow, Kayla Snow, Liam Snow, Bradley Snow, Jenna Snow; great-grandchildren, Jazmin Freeman, Nolan Herritt, Ava Herritt, Ashton, son of Colin Herritt; extended family, Terry, Nancy, Dustin and Jeremy Johnson.

He was predeceased by daughter, Joan; sister, Evelyn Madden; brothers, Harvard and Reginald.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg. A Graveside Committal Service will be held
Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Bayport Cemetery, Rev. Willis Ott officiating.

Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
