Obituary for Elsie Pauline Corkum
It is with great sadness that the family of Elsie Pauline Corkum, 90, of Lunenburg announces her passing on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.
Born in Lunenburg, Elsie was the daughter of the late Howard and Florence (Romkey) Walters-Snow.
Elsie’s had a varied working career and over the years was employed in Lunenburg at National Sea Products, Simpson Sears, South Shore Sales, the Red and White Store, and prior to her retirement at the Veteran’s Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital.
She was a faithful member of Central United Church, where she served as an elder, UCW and supported the work of the church in any way she could. Elsie enjoyed her time as a volunteer at LaHave Manor. Family was most important part of her life and she cherished the quality times spent with her children and grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Philip) Slade, Bridgewater; son, David Corkum (Patti White), Wileville; grandchildren, Jessie Slade (Paul Connors) and Chelsea and Megan and great grandchild, Amelia.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dawson in 1987; sisters, Bernice and Helen and brothers, Angus and Cecil.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd’s Hill Cemetery, Riverport.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or to a charity of your choice.
