Obituary for Doreen Rita Rafuse (Hirtle)
It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Rita Rafuse, 86, of Martin’s Point, announces her passing at home on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Oran and Vina (Mosher) Hirtle.
Mom loved going on her bus trips to the U.S. with her lady friends. She would always be sitting in her front room window, looking out admiring her flower gardens, watching the birds, cars going by, and people walking on the trail. In her early years she enjoyed making crafts and going to craft sales and also made a lot of beautiful cakes for all occasions, she did an awesome job! Like usually in anything she did.
Doreen is survived by her daughters, Maryann (Sherman) Corkum, Feltzen South, Annette (Andy) Rains, Western Shore, special one and only son, Terry (Marina) Rafuse, Martin’s River; grandchildren, Greg, Aaron, Andy, Adrian, Josh, Nathaniel and Hayden; great-grandchildren, Kera, Bria, Jade, Macy, Owen, Landon, Marissa, Danika, Tyrell, Sierra; sister, Marie Fleming, Halifax.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, granddaughter, Tanya; brothers, Frances, Robert and Cyril Hirtle.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A private family graveside service will be held at Western Shore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Integrity Haven Equine Rescue Centre, Chester Basin or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
The family would like to thank Lunenburg Home Care for their compassionate care and everything they did to help Doreen. Also a special thankyou to her special niece, Marlene for doing all she did to help Mom.
