Obituary for Nadine Moselle Halliday

“It’s been an adventure. We’ve had some casualties over the years. Things got broken. Things got lost. But I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.” – Anthony Bourdain

Nadine Moselle Halliday passed away suddenly on July 13, 2022, while visiting friends in Mader’s Cove, Nova Scotia.

Born in Frontier, Saskatchewan, she was the only daughter of late Dr. Frank and Dorothy (Trask) Halliday.

Nadine grew up in South Brookfield, Nova Scotia and attended North Queens Elementary and High School where she excelled academically and athletically and made lifelong friends. Perpetually seeking adventure, Nadine studied abroad in Mallorca, Spain, while completing her degree in Anthropology at St. Mary’s University. Always ambitious, driven, and creative, Nadine had a long and varied career in service, film, and custom home construction industries. After living and working in London, England for several years, she returned to Halifax where she managed the Granite Brewery. Soon after Nadine gave birth to her daughter, Simone, the love of her life and her proudest achievement. In 2000, they moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she began her nineteen-year career as a project coordinator with Birkholz Homes. Having recently resigned from her position, Nadine was planning her next great adventure and trying to find her way back to Nova Scotia.

Nadine’s passion for travel took her all around the world, learning how people live, eat, and cook while making friends everywhere she went. Every trip with Nadine was meticulously planned down to the last detail, making time to see all the sights, and making reservations at all the best restaurants. Giving and generous, Nadine loved to share her quick wit, her wisdom, and her exacting opinions with the people she loved. There was no crossword clue she couldn’t crack, and no situation she couldn’t handle or hold your hand through. She will be profoundly missed.

Nadine was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband, Allan, and her daughter Simone Halliday-Shaw (Jon), Edmonton; on her father’s side, half-siblings David, Richard, Diana; on her mother’s side half-siblings Cathy, and Michael.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg where a gathering for family and friends to celebrate Nadine’s life will be held on Wednesday July 20, 2022 from 7-9PM. An additional memorial will be held in Edmonton, Alberta with date and details to be confirmed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hope for Wildlife (https://www.hopeforwildlife.net/all-the-ways-to-give).
