Obituary for Eirik Larsen

It is with deep sadness that the family of Eirik Larsen, 87, of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia announce his passing on Monday, September 12, 2022, at home.

Born May 12, 1935 in Sigerfjord, Norway, he was predeceased by his parents Ester Wictoria (Iversen) and Bjarne Klaebo Larsen; brother Bjorn; and wife Betty Odegard.

Eirik is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Delton) Frazer, Lapland; sons, Eirik Jr, Williamswood, and Jeffery (Kellie), Halifax; sister Turid Bente Johansen (Per-Henry), Norway; twin sister Elsa Skindlo (Erling), Norway; and brother Steinar, Norway.

Eirik had three grandchildren, one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Eirik touched many different families all over the world. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke. He was also very loyal to his friends, of whom he had many.

Eirik had a successful and global career. In his early years, he was a Merchant Seaman. Later, after immigrating to Canada and meeting his wife Betty, he worked with Volvo in Canada and Belgium for more than a decade. Following that he had a successful career in Cameroon, Africa as a Superintendent of Heavy Equipment at Cellucam, then following in Zaire, Africa creating road infrastructure. He retired in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia after working briefly with an international fish broker. Eirik instilled a strong work ethic in his children who are all successful business owners.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. In keeping with Eirik’s wishes, there is to be no public memorial service.

And in the end I will seek you out amongst the stars. The space dust of me will whisper “I love you all” into the infinity of the universe. (~dj)
