Obituary for Fred Leroy Knickle

It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Leroy Knickle, 87, of Garden Lots, announces his passing on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Blue Rocks, Fred was the son of the late Fred and Olive (Tanner) Knickle.

Fred started his working career as a mechanic with Lunenburg Motors and went on to work at National Sea Products, Lunenburg retiring in 1994.

Fred enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home, playing his guitar, mackerel fishing in his boat, hunting and just enjoying good times with his friends.

He is survived by his companion, Shirley Vaughn, daughter, Gail (Anthony) Levy, New Ross; stepchildren, Carol (John) Vanbrunt and Michael (Stephanie) Caplan both of Ontario; grandchildren, Jennifer, Julia and Steve; sisters, Julia Tanner, Shirley Romkey both of Blue Rocks and Ruth Mills, Lunenburg and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Fred with his family on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and where funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society,
Alzheimers Society of N. S. or to a charity of your choice.
