Obituary for Murray Franklin Young

Murray Franklin  Young
Murray Franklin Young, 89, of Martin’s Brook, passed away, Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Mahone Bay, he was a son of the late James Nathan and Katie (Whynot) Young.

Murray was a life long resident of Martin’s Brook and will be remembered for his love of the area. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished the land, loved the gifts of nature around him and enjoyed assisting his wife, Mary, with the beautiful flower beds on their property. Murray was well known in his community and people treasured their many encounters and conversations with him. He worked for over 50 years with Lunenburg Foundry and Engineering and will be sadly missed, especially by his friends and neighbours. Murray is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Westhaver), and niece, Judy Tanner, Lunenburg.

He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Tanner.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A private graveside committal service will be held Wednesday at the Martin’s Brook Cemetery, Martin’s Brook.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Martin’s Brook Cemetery.
